The Erban Poets are a Cardiff based group signed to Rounda Records. Their track 'Good Day Sunshine' won the 'best new hip-hop' category at the U:Music awards ceremony, held in London on April 4th.
Less than a year old, their 'collective' record company has been building a solid reputation as a creative backer and distributor for unsigned artists. Mainly pioneering hip hop & dance music, Rounda aim to raise their talents' profiles and get them the recognition and airplay they deserve.
Hailing from Cardiff , DJ Jaffa and Nayton da Watcha have grown up together and have been developing creatively for over a decade. Working together and on solo projects, Jaffa cuts up the samples and Nayton provides the rhymes.
Nayton has been a prominent MC in Cardiff for several years, and has been doing the festival scene as a part of Manchild -Cardiff's up & coming breaks collective- who do an 8 piece live show. They were at all the major festivals last year including Glastonbury and V2000.
Kari joined the Erban Poets after being spotted during an Open Mic Session, at a Kool Herc night held at TJ's in Newport. It was, "immediately apparent that here live skills were in place." She has also worked with Flynn and Flora as well as session work with Smith and Mighty.
