We received this news letter in our e-mail this evening and felt that it summed up our feelings about the situation pretty well, includes a number of infomative links to more sites. Taken from www.freezerbox.com.

Dear Reader,
Like most of America, we at Freezerbox are deeply saddened
and outraged by the events that took place on September 11.
It is our fervent hope that those responsible are apprehended
and brought to justice, and our still more fervent hope that
all who are suffering as a result of this terrorist action
will find solace and comfort in the days ahead. We applaud
the firefighters, police officers, ironworkers and ordinary
heroes who are today still risking their lives to save others
in New York.
As the saga unfolds, however, we also grow concerned by the
tenor of the national discourse, which is turning from shock
to an understandable form of rage. The desire for justice--which
we share--must be tempered by an understanding of why so many
parts of the world view the United States with such deep resentment
and hatred. A campaign of bombing and cruise missile attacks
may sate our current thirst for revenge, but in the long term
it will only exacerbate the cycles of violence that have brought
us to this awful point. It is imperative that the United States,
in its pursuit of the terrorists, not commit acts that the
rest of the world may well regard as terrorism--including
the bombing of heavily populated areas. No more innocent people
need to die.
Unfortunately, the mainstream media seems to not agree with
us, and has become swept away in a tide of depthless coverage
that fails to present the historical context of Middle Eastern
terrorism. We are providing, in this newsletter, links to
articles on ZNet (www.zmag.org) and a few other publications,
which have been written by academics and activists well versed
in Middle Eastern affairs. None of these articles, it is important
to note, profess to tell the entire story of Middle Eastern
affairs. Nor do they in any way diminish or excuse the atrocity
of September 11. What they do provide is an important perspective
that is lacking in too many discussions today.
We have also included links to our site which has two articles,
one by Michael Manville that explores the origins of Osama
bin Laden's terrorist organization and one by Alexander Zaitchik
discussing the dangers of a full-scale bombing assault. Also
attached is a link to the email addresses of all United States
Senators. If you agree with us, we urge you to write these
men and women and urge that America pursue justice in a way
that does not trample its own ideals or necessitate any more
violence. Lastly, we encourage those who can to make donations
to help fund the organizations involved in relief efforts.
To learn more about these organizations and how to make your
donation, please visit the Helping.org website at http://www.helping.org/.
We also ask that everyone who receives this newsletter please
forward it (or the links) on to as many people as possible.
It is important that we broaden the scope of our national
discussion, and not compound one tragedy by partaking in another.
Informed and reasoned debate in our democracy requires more
than an endless parade of horrific images and patriotic rhetoric.
We thank everyone for reading, as always.
